This month is the worst month to review super colorful, bright lipsticks shades at home. We have a new and very hyper Yorkie puppy. Her name is Luna and she likes to kiss us on the lips way too much. So every once in awhile you’d see her with light #VividMatte lipstick smudges around her face — i know, talk about accidental animal testing!

Anyway back to these lipsticks, generally speaking Maybelline’s Color Sensational Vivid Matte Lipsticks are all well pigmented. They have a nice creamy, kinda wet texture that dries off to a demi-matte finish after awhile. It’s not fully opaque but the color pay off is pretty good and can be built up to a certain intensity. It lasts a very long time with slight fading that starts after 4-5 hours. It’s also surprisingly moisturizing and does not dry the lips like most matte lipstick.

Maybelline came up with five shades that are actually good dupes for some popular MAC lipsticks. I wish they used more memorable names for each shade instead of just numbering it. Like for example “Dangerous Woman” (yas Ariana Grande fan over here! Love that song!) would go nicely with VIVID 5 matte. It has that Marilyn Monroe vibe, and has a striking resemblance with MAC Russian Red. This shade is my ultimate fave from this collection. It’s also the shade I’m wearing on my last minute halloween cat suit costume photo below.

My second fave is VIVID 8, a beautiful fuchsia pink shade, which I think is a brighter, and less matte version of MAC’s retro matte lipstick Flat Out Fabulous. VIVID 13 is a bubble gum pink shade that reminds me of the lipstick color my Malibu Barbie wore. VIVID 6 is a nice hot pink shade that reminds me of another MAC lipstick Girl About Town. And lastly, VIVID 7 is a lighter, warmer (with a more orange undertone) demi matte version of MAC’s Ruby Woo / Riri Woo. 

These are pretty good budget friendly demi-matte lipsticks with fun and bold shades. Plus they can also pass as dupes for some of the MAC lipsticks I mentioned. They retail for only P299 (and it can go cheaper during Maybelline sale events). I don’t wear bold lipstick shades often (especially pink ones) but these are something i wanna have in my lipstick arsenal in case i feel like wearing one, or if i wanna recreate a Selena Gomez music video look, or dress up for a costume party. I feel like VIVID 5 (Monroe Red) and VIVID 8 (Victorias Secret model fuchsia) are the easiest and most beautiful shades to wear from this collection.
