I TRIED AVON FOR THE FIRST TIME & HANDPICKED MY TOP 6 TRUSTWORTHY MAKEUP
AVON TRUE COLORS
How often do you guys try new brands or new products? I’m actually one of those buyers with trust issues. I like to stick to makeup I’m familiar with until they are phased out. When they are completely MIA on every counter in the country (I’m not even exaggerating here guys, I once called every store branch in Cebu – I’m from Manila – looking for a certain lipstick shade), that’s the only time I panic, anxiously run around the mall, and scout other brands. It’s usually a hit or miss after this point. Some brands and products live up to their claims and hype in YouTube or the blogosphere, and some don’t. And as much as possible I like to avoid spending money on the “misses”.
If it wasn’t for my blog I wouldn’t be exposed to beauty brands I’m not familiar with like Avon. Forgive my living under a rock, but I’ve never tried Avon makeup before. I grew up wearing their cute floral strapped baby blue bras. My bestfriend and I were match-matchy with the floral strap peeking through our halter tops which was “uso” (the trend) back then. But i didn’t know that they had expanded to an entire makeup line called Avon True Colors who’s motto is “beautiful promises kept”, which in my book is established through trust and experience.
So I was keen to try 17 products from them and experience Avon makeup for the first time. I decided to narrow them down into my top six products that performed well as a sort of guideline for those of you who, like me, want to give the brand a chance to prove itself as a trustworthy and affordable makeup brand.

MY TOP 6
MY TOP 5 AVON PRODUCTS
First off, the lipstick that surprised me the most from this collection — three beautiful shades from Avon True Color Perfectly Matte Lipstick (Price P399). It’s a demi matte, smooth, non drying, and light-on-the-lips lipstick. The color payoff is beautiful, and even though they are not fully opaque they are pigmented enough to look bold and solid when worn. It lasts for about 4-5 hours until it starts to fade.
I love the shade Wild Cherry aka the deep plum red lipstick I’m wearing in my photo above and the lipstick I like to wear when i want to feel more sophisticated and lady-like than I actually am in person LOL. I don’t usually gravitate to deep shades like this cos i feel like they look too matron on me but this plum has a hint of youthfulness in it. I also like their classic red lipstick Red Supreme which is a little less pigmented than Wild Cherry but still beautiful when worn. And Hot Plum, which is more of an I’m-going-to-a-festival-XOXO-party-shade and isn’t something i would wear on a daily basis. It’s cute and unlike most bright purple lipsticks this actually looked human and less clown-ish on me! I almost felt bad I didn’t have a costume party to wear this lipstick with.

BELOW: Avon Luminous Blush Rose Luster | Skin Goodness BB Cream | Skin Goodness CC cream | Oil Control Plus Dual Powder Foundation | Glazewear Lipgloss Pink Watermelon & Mauve Movement | Skin Goodness CC Powder
Avon True Color Glazewear Lipgloss Mauve Movement (Price P299) is also another shade to watch out for from this collection. It’s sheer but you can build up the color. This gloss is beautiful on top of a matte mauve pink lipstick.
Avon True Color Skin Goodness CC Powder SPF30 Light Medium (Price P299) is a bit dark for my skin tone, but it blended pretty well on top of their Avon Skin Goodness CC cream SPF 50 which is two shades lighter than my skintone (I wore this combo on the photo above). What i like about this powder the most is its silky smooth texture that feels made it seem like it should be more expensive than it is. It has a nice tint that can lightly smoothen out skin imperfections. This is a nice setting powder to use over a cc cream if you want to add a little bit more coverage.
Avon True Color Luminous blush Rose Luster (Price P370) is a beautiful medium rosey pink shade with finely milled luminous shimmer dust. Its glowy and beautiful, although I strongly advice that you use a different and softer brush than the one included in the compact. It lasts about 3-4 hours on my cheeks before it started to fade.
