13 Looks In 1 Maybelline Palette And A Giveaway!

Generally speaking I’m less adventurous when it comes to eyeshadow palettes. After getting UD’s Naked Palette, I realized that the eyeshadows will probably expire before i could ever use them all up. And it breaks my heart to see money and good makeup go to waste like that. BUT… this of course didn’t stop me from occasionally buying more neutral eyeshadows lol (I just ordered five eyeshadows and a few lippies from Colour Pop… in my defense they were neutral metallic eyeshadows, which I don’t believe I have yet… PS. I blame Erika!).

This Maybelline The Nudes Palette however, was sent to me for review consideration. Let me start by saying this is a good budget starter palette if you want to experiment with eyeshadows and you’re not entirely sure what shades to get or what shades to combine in a makeup look. It comes with a 13 eyeshadow combo guide printed at the back of it’s case — quads, trios, and duos — that I wish I had on my own starter palette then (my first mini starter palette was from LA colors, I was very budget conscious with makeup then!).

A Starter Palette

Its shades are reminiscent of some Naked 1 and 2 eyeshadows so you can find a couple of nice Urban Decay dupes here (Half Baked, Smog, Darkhorse, and more) at a cheaper price of P675 (15USD) per palette, which also usually go down to almost P500-ish when there’s an ongoing sale. The texture is as creamy soft as the Nakeds too!

Pigmentation is good for the satin shades — not super intimidatingly pigmented but just right enough to practice building up the color and blending it. The matte and frosted shades are quite chalky and less pigmented compared to the satin ones, which is a common case with most palettes, even with high end palettes. A good primer is a must with these eyeshadows to manage the few harder-to-work-with shades, plus I also had no problems with it’s longevity with a primer.

Overall, i think this palette will appeal most to people who want to start to learn and experiment with eyeshadows but don’t want to shell out a lot of money for it yet. The application guide at the back of the case would be very helpful plus the color selection is good to begin with! Here’s a photo of me wearing Maybelline’s Hypercurl and Falsies mascara, and The Nudes eyeshadow palette. I like how these Maybelline make up keeps me looking fresh and flawless. PS. I tried to copy a subtler version of Georgina Wilson’s NYFW Maybelline makeup, but my camera didn’t capture it so well. I used (guessed the name from the box label) Bareskin, Siren, Sandy, Tanned, and Muddy.
