Makeup Swap With Miss Citron Guavaberry

Guys meet Vanessa of Citron and Guavaberry — a.k.a. miss congeniality, creative photographer of the year, and the funniest #bblogger ever. Seriously tho, if beauty bloggers had Grammys she’d win an award. She’s one of the first bloggers I’ve grown to be friends with here, and her blog is something you wouldn’t want to miss out on. So if you haven’t yet, hop on over to C&G after I show you some of the makeup goodies she sent me last year.

THE BALM HIGHLIGHTER MARY LOU MANIZER

Okay this champagne-colored highlighter might as well be made of butter cause it’s sooo soft you guys. The color is also really beautiful. If it was just a tad bit less shinier it would’ve been the perfect “barely there” highlighter. But having said, that I still love it. Give it a swatch next time you see it at the counter, you won’t regret it.

MILANI BLUSH LUMINOSO

Vanessa raved about this blush so many times in her blog and naturally I got curious. I thought, if the blush queen (that’s what some of us nicknamed her, she prolly has around 50+ blushes by now) then it must be amazing. Peachy orange-y blushes don’t usually look pretty on me but this one does and I feel like it would look good on most skin tones. For a drugstore blush this one feels and looks a lot more expensive than it is.

NARS AUDACIOUS LIPSTICK CHARLOTTE

Okay, the Nars audacious lipstick hype is real. Among all the lipstick lines that I’ve tried, this is hands down one of the best. It feels amazingly light on the lips and yet it’s super pigmented. Charlotte is also such a beautiful red berry shade. On my lips it seems like it’s a mixture of MAC Viva Glam (dark red) and MAC Craving (berry toned).

ILLAMASQUA BLUSH HUSSY

I finally got to try Illamasqua woohoo! We don’t have it in my country so I am very grateful that she sent me two of their blushes. Hussy is a beautiful finely milled everyday pink color blush. It has just the right amount of pigmentation and it’s texture is really soft for a powder blush.

ILLAMASQUA BLUSH SOPHIE

Last but definitely not the least is the Illamasqua blush Sophie, which I begged Vanessa to send me cause I found it very attractive on pictures. It’s a thousand times (excitement level is too high here) prettier in person though! It’s a golden peachy pink blush with micro shimmers in it that makes my cheeks glowy. It is also one of the few blushes that beats my all time fave Nars Orgasm in my book

Visit Citron Guavaberry to see what I got her :)
PS. Sorry for the delay and thanks so much for everything V!

We had quite an experience with this swap because we thought the first package she sent was lost (it was delayed for more or less four months I think), so she kindly sent another one, but it turns out the first box wasn’t lost, plus there was trouble with the customs taxing the gifts… aaahh. In the end though we were able to sort things out, I’m just grateful that she was very patient with everything.

  • CJ says:

Wooo thats some loot. Everything looks amazing!!! And the way you packaged yours was super fun. :)

Whatever happened to the customs thingy? Did they still tax the gifts? If it was under $50 they shouldn't but that's for regular things…I don't know about gifts :/

  • Natasja says:

  • wow, you got a lot of awesome goodies from the swap! I love the Nars Audacious lipsticks. I only got one and too bad it is so pricey that I really don't want to splurge on more. Illamasque blushes are so great and pigmented. I just love their shades and how it looks on my cheeks. Heading over to see what you got for her :)

  • Juvy says:

Blushes! My collection is ridiculous too, but they really just make me look more fresh and youthful. I try to not overdo applying blushes but I always ends up looking like a clown. Hehehe..

Anyway, those mary-lou and luminoso are great quality. I want to own a NARS Audacious lipstick too someday, and I envy those Illamasqua blushes! So pretty!!! :)

  • Vanessa N says:

FINALLY THIS POST UP UP ;)
(Well, actually, I'm around the 70-ish blush mark by now BUT UHHHH, NO ONE NEEDS TO KNOW ._.)(And hopefully there is no award ceremony for this award, because I cannot dress to save my life)
I'm really glad you love SOPHIE! One of my favourite shades, and it's just so pretty IRL! But I feel like I waste more product swatching Mary-Lou than actually using it, because it's jUST SO FRICKIN' SOFT AND I CAN'T STOP STROKING IT SENSUALLY.

  • Sheri says:

Woot woot Vanessa got you awesome stuff! THAT LIPSTICK *_* THOSE BLUSHESSS *drool* I love what you got her as well!
That sucks about the whole shipping/package shabang though, did you end up getting the delayed package?

  • The blushes look so glowy and pink:DD I'm not a huge blush person especially with powders(I'm more of a blush stain), but even I can see their lovely appeal:D & that lip color. It looks absolutely gorgeous. The way you described its texture makes me want to go out and buy it, ahaha. More posts Shayne!! More:D I love reading your blog:3

  • Shayne ♥ says:

hahaha what happened? sharing time :) btw they charged me around 2k i think! or a little cheaper than that grabe

  • Shayne ♥ says:

thank you!! they shouldve not put tax on it :( i think i paid around 2k. the first swap that i receive didn't get taxed but this one tho! kainis, it was during the holidays so the customs lady was masungit and basically she taxed everyone that were there. madami din natiinis but they used the holiday as a way to get people to pay nalang so they can get the package asap.

  • Shayne ♥ says:

haha yes! i missed being around you beautiful people! i think she has more than the amt that i mention ^^ have you tried the audacious lipsticks? i feel like you will love em.

  • Shayne ♥ says:

Yes! omg i wanna see you wearin craving. its such a beautiful berry shade i bet it looks lovely on you. i find that your type of skintone matches most lipsticks shade. im so excited to get it in my shipping suite.
aye you've got to check out illamasqua shophie, if you loved nars orgasm i feel like youre going to like this one more. do you have illamasqua there? :)

  • Shayne ♥ says:

oh she did :) youre going to like the illamasqua blushes, sophie is just too beautiful

  • Shayne ♥ says:

thanks julie! its a nice dark red berry tone, and if eel like itll look good on most skintone :)

  • Shayne ♥ says:

hahaha yes she is. she's one of my main blush influence, before i got into her blog i had only a few blushes and now cause of her and this swap i finally have the other “basic” colors i need. thanks for stopping by!

  • Shayne ♥ says:

oh yes meeting awesome people *just like you* here is def one of the most rewarding thing! and im glad that you visited her page, youre gonna love her. her writing style is very entertaining and her pics are just amazeballz!

  • Shayne ♥ says:

they also taxed you for it? :S honestly its very annoying that they do that at the customs. for eg books aren't suppose to be taxable and they tax some people for it tsk tsk. btw welcome to my blog!

  • Shayne ♥ says:

oh! i dont think i remember seeing a review of it on your blog yet.what shade did you get? :) yea the price is a turn off for me too. and i wish the packaging was better cause its almost the same price as my other higher end lipsticks.

  • Shayne ♥ says:

juvy! i wanna see a good overview of your makeup stash,i feel like its an entire store na. you have sooo many! ^^

  • Shayne ♥ says:

yes! im sos for the delay <3 omg thats a lot haha. how do you store them? sophies is an all time fave now. seriously, *what is nars orgasm*. same here lol, i still wish it was a little less shimmery. thanks for introducing me to the blush world!

  • Shayne ♥ says:

aw thanks! it does aaah and they charged me with high tax for it even though it wasnt suppose to be taxable. i also got the other package after 4 months i think. im never using that shipping method ever again. lesson learned:)

  • Shayne ♥ says:

    aww thanks lupe! <3

  • Shayne ♥ says:

hahaha thats true. it was hard getting her a blush cause she had 70 of them! for the most times i thought of getting her a certain brand of blush, i check her posts and she has it.

  • Shayne ♥ says:

shes from CA too! you gonna love her :) oh and check out illamasqua sophie too, i envy you ppl for having such great brands available in your country

  • Shayne ♥ says:

thanks melissa thats an extra special compliment since its coming from you!

  • Shayne ♥ says:

thanks paola! missed you! ahh yes if youre really into natural makeup looks, mary lou can be too shiny. you might like the elf highlighter stick that i use before. its very inexpensive and natural looking. lasts all day pa :)

  • Shayne ♥ says:

aw thanks gorgeous! missed you! im slowly switching to stains / creams and you know what i think i might like it better than powders. its more natural looking and luminous!

  • I paid almost 2 thousand too for products for around that price too huhuhuh, I want to cry that day. The worse is that they made us wait for hours, mosquitoes are already feasting on us while the people from customs are having hearty chismis and breakfast and then there's this girl na hindi na pumila, just went inside and after 5 minutes she came out with a staff carrying her stuff (medyo may something something na nung nasa side na sila ng car nung babae) others that are also waiting are taxed for second hand stuff and documents sent by their relatives from US, like the girl beside me also paid around 2k for a handmedown bag and some documents…I don't know how customs works, my first order from gmarket was not taxed but the second one with a not so pricey bag was held in customs…I think mainit mata nila sa mga bags, my friend also got taxed for a small camera bag
    so that's my story hahahaha

  • Shayne ♥ says:

theres actually a mini book that you could bring there so that when they overcharge pwde mo pakita sa kanila ung tamang “law” they abuse it kasi. its so corrupt na sometimes. tsk tsk. and yes malamok nga outside hahaha. also theres usually a guy just in front of the office who will offer you a way to get the packages asap (no line needed) and youll pay only half the price of the tax issued. i havent tried that tho. if you wanna buy something abroad next time you can pasabay it with my stuff if you want. i always make pabili kasi sa US but i dont wanna go through the customs na talaga ever :)

  • Hollie says:

I've had a lot of bad experiences with regards to international shipping, with that said, Johnny Air is the first courier I haven't had problems with for int'l shipping…. I already saw Vanessa's post about the stuff you got her. It's sooo nice you finally have marylou and luminoso, those are two of the products I really really adore these past few years. and I swear Luminoso looks great on everybody! waaa lusting over those illamasqua blushes, so pretty! One more thing, I discovered Citron&Guavaberry last year because of you and I'm literally hooked on her post, apart from the beautiful photos and her funny quirks she's so honest about her reviews and I appreciate that.

  • Mnel says:

Ugh. Customs issues. That's why I hardly have anything sent directly to the Philippines when I buy stuff online. I usually course them to my MyShoppingBox account and they take care of the shipping and the customs duties for me and ship my items to my doorstep. Our customs charge so much for everything! Sometimes you pay more tax compared to the actual value of the products.

  • Shayne ♥ says:

Hi Mnel! I use MSB sometimes too just to avoid the custom's unfair tax fees. Although I had a few problems na rin with MSB's customer service. It's still a better option than going thru customs.
That happened to someone i know, she paid 2000 for a 1000 worth of item. tsk tsk customs why you do this.

  • Shayne ♥ says:

Holliee, where you been pretty lady. It's been awhile since your last post. Johnny Air is a good option na rin, I feel like it is more expensive than My Shopping Box though when it comes to smaller packages. is it? Yay we be twining correction tripleting with luminoso! Haha yup her posts are always entertaining and creative :)

  • Vanessa N says:

Haha, it's ok! And uhm, THEY ARE EVERYWHERE. I've got unopened blushes in one jar, and opened ones in a giant tray. They've taken over MY LIFE. (You have no idea how much I'm glad you like Sophie though because I'm like, “DO PEOPLE TAKE MY SUGGESTIONS SERIOUSLY AND DO I HAVE CREDIBILITY??”)

  • Shayne ♥ says:

hahaha we do! you are my blush guru!

  • Kissel says:

Shayne, seriously, the images you take for this blog are GORGEOUS! I agree about Milani's Luminoso – just as its name suggests, it gives one a luminous glow that's just right. I've been curious about Nars Audacious Lipsticks from hearing a lot of positive reviews about it, but I'm trying not to take the plunge until the holiday sale. Hopefully, I'll get one or two shades that I've been eyeing from that line by the end of this year. :)

  • Shayne ♥ says:

thanks kissel hihi! and welcome to my blog! which shades are these? im also holding on to my wishlist for the big sales ;)

  • Hi Shayne! :) I'm eyeing Anita, Olivia and possibly Raquel. I'm limiting my purchase from this particular line because it's quite pricey. I'm also trying to choose shades I would use regularly, so I don't waste that much when they eventually expire. Haha. The struggle of beauty blogging – so many products, so little time. :)

  • Shayne ♥ says:

and so little moneyz hehe! theyre really expensive for a lipstick, if only they were a little more cheaper sarap sana i collect ^^ good choice on raquel and anita btw they look nice on the swatches ive seen. havent tried them on me tho kasi the nars counters that i visited dont have testers for these shades :)
