DIY Starbucks Christmas Ornament

I have once again disappeared and messed up my regular blogging schedule. I’ve  also disturbed my sleeping schedule, so here I am crafting at 5am in the morning like a lunatic. Before I get into that, let me share with you my newly found addiction. A few days ago I crossed out an item off of my Christmas wishlist. I am now a happy and clingy owner of an iPad Mini :) Yay. I immediately became obsessed with it, resulting to me not doing anything else productive, hence the distrupt on my everyday agenda. Now that I am back here, I have a lot of reading and catching up to do :)

I went to Starbucks a few days ago to check out their Christmas mugs and immediately got inspired by their decors and Christmas items. I decided to create my own version of a Starbucks Christmas Ornament using their red cups. It is very easy to make, more importantly, it is inexpensive because it includes recycling. If you love drinking Starbucks coffee, you will probably enjoy this post even more. Here’s what I came up with today. I hope you like it!

1. You are going to need one clean Starbucks Christmas drinking cup. A little tip : you can ask the Starbucks barista to not write any name on the cup when you order, or write a name, or perhaps a short funny quote on it. Take the cup home and recycle it by cleaning the cup with dish soap and water.

2. Create a loop using a red ribbon and a glue gun and attach it inside the cup as seen in the picture above.

3. Fill the cup with cotton. You can secure the cotton by also adding glue inside the cup.

4. Add some more Christmas decoration. Here, I used a candy cane from SM department store. You can also use a regular white paper straw and wrap a red ribbon around it to mimic the appearance of the candy cane.

5. Sprinkle glitters on top of the cup and you’re done. You can also add some bows and other Christmas items on your cup to customize it a bit more. I was suppose to add some bells but I got lazy :)

Isn’t it nice to have a couple of these decor on your Christmas tree with your family members name written on each cup? I know I say this a lot but if you make one please share some pics or links below. It makes me happy to see someone make something out of my posts here in my blog. Have a nice day ladies! :)

  • so cute! maybe I'll use a real candy cane when I make one para may makain pag biglang gusto ng snack.

  • This looks so so cute! What a great idea :)

  • This is too cute! It would actually make a great “wrapper” for tiny trinkets (hidden underneath the cotton) as gifts. ^_^

  • I love your DIYs! This is perfect for the coming season! Moore of this.

  • This is genius! I don't drink Starbucks often but this is really cute! :D Thanks for the tip ^^

  • hooray,, that is really cool sis… ^^

  • yay! love DIY-ing nowadays too. that's a cute christmas ornament right thurr

  • such a cute and sweet creation! ;) excited na for christmas. hehe

  • So cute! I would go to Starbucks more if it wasn't a dang expensive. But this is a great DIY! Homemade ornaments are always better than store bought. :D

  • CJ

I think it would suffice to just put cotton on the sides and the top and not fill it to the brim (it's such a waste) or just fill it a 2/3 of the way with scrap paper then put the cotton. Otherwise very cute and creative! Thumbs up yo :)

  • Saw this earlier in one of your instagram posts. totally creative sis! thanks for sharing this idea :) have a nice day!

  • Awe that's totally for me, I'm the ultimate coffee junkie and here in Belgium the sizes are so small compared to North America.

    Very cute DIY project =)

  • ♥♥ this diy since I'm a Starbucks lover its so perfect to add to the tree. Great job very creative.

  • super nice shayne! ang creative mu namin! loving it ^_~

  • This is so cute sis! You're really creative :D

  • That's very lovely and creative :) I'm not a big fan of Starbucks so I'm just sticking to the usual Xmas decorations hihi. Should go out and buy some new ones soon, though.

  • So cute! I can imagine this hanging in my window.:)

  • That is really nice Shayne, at least your brain is working at 5am in the morning. Mine would have been half asleep :D

That is a wicked way to recycle and create something awesome and Christmassy. Very creative idea especially writing names of your loved ones on each cup and adding personal touches.

So glad that you got the iPad, one down how many more to go?

I was a bit worried but glad you are fine. Keeping you and the people of Philipphines in my prayers.

    Have a wonderful week Shayne.

  • This is soooo cute *-* I need to show this to my best friend ASAP! (she is a starbucks lover who sadly doesn't have one near her house so, every time she visits Lisbon we always drink a coffee or something there!)

I might even so something like this to decorate my room!
Please take care, have a nice day!*

  • What a cute and easy DIY project! I think I'll make these as decorations around my apartment (we don't have a tree unfortunately). Great idea!

  • Oh dear lord this DIY is too cute!!! I don't really have a tree to hang ornaments up, but I might attempt this anyways!

(P.S. It's ok, if I got an iPad, I'd probably be a lot less functional than you..aka I'd probably be distracted and wouldn't be able to post for weeks)

  • Nice one! Didn't expect that this ornament is a DIY. We don't have a christmas tree at home but this is something useful for those who are looking for cheap ornaments to hand with their christmas tree.

  • This is a really cute idea! I had the same experience when I first had my iPad mini. It was like glued to my hands! :)
